Often noted as Portugal’s best kept secret, the Azores Islands have plenty to offer, not least of which includes pristine beauty and endless opportunity for adventure.

Today, we’re highlighting the best hotels and accommodations on the islands, all of which we’ll indulge in on our Portugal: Azores Islands Adventure.

Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island

Olá! Welcome to The Azores and our stunning first hotel on São Miguel Island. Built during the Golden Age of the orange trade between Ponta Delgada and England, this boutique hotel was a manor and once housed the Regional Conservatory of Music of Ponta Delgada. The history of the region and the house live on in the accommodation’s stunning decor and amenities, evoking a sense of music and art.

Horta, Faial Island

This quaint space has views of the ocean, the city of Horta and Pico Mountain. It’s also of note that one of the top 10 most important bars in the world — Peter Café Sport (AKA Peter’s Bar. AKA Café Sport.) — is only a short stumble away.

São Jorge Island

A lush garden and a refreshing sapphire pool await in this boutique space on São Jorge Island. You’ll get an incredible night’s rest on the plush beds with soft linens. Oh, and the view ain’t half bad either (see balcony photo below).

Furnas, São Miguel Island

An oasis awaits for our final hotel near Furnas on São Miguel Island. This “Garden Hotel” takes design inspiration from both Art Deco and the natural beauty of the surrounding archipelago. Among many other accolades, the hotel was named Portugal’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2016 and Best Scenic Environment in both 2015 and 2016.
