COVID-19 Updates

LAST UPDATED: Friday, May 8 @ 10:00am EDT

The health and safety of our guests is our top priority and we pride ourselves on making decisions that are pragmatic, and place priority on purpose before profit. In light of the ever-changing COVID-19 (“coronavirus”) situation, we will be updating this page frequently.

Our dedicated team is working around the clock with the best interests of our clients in mind.

Out Adventures is suspending all tours departing before August 31, 2020

At this point, most heads of state have recommended everyone avoid all non-essential travel to help isolate the spread of coronavirus.

Given both our mission to prioritize our customer’s safety and do our part to mitigate the spread of coronavirus, we are cancelling all tours that depart before August 31, 2020. At present, all tours departing AFTER September 1, 2020 are running as planned.

The coronavirus situation continues to change and evolve. As does the response of governments and health officials. At this point, it is impossible to predict which tours will or won’t be affected. Our promise is to stay transparent through this unprecedented situation.

New Booking Conditions & other important information

As a result of coronavirus, we are temporarily amending our Booking Conditions to make it easier for our customers to change their plans. These updated booking conditions currently apply from March 13th, 2020 for all tours departing before December 31st, 2021.  Please see below for a summary of this policy.

New bookings – deposit and full payment

If booking a trip with a departure date before December 31, 2021, we will require a $500 USD deposit, and final payment will be 60 days prior to departure.

If you decide to cancel your booking

  • up to 60 days before departure, we will hold 100% of your payment as a credit for future travel. If you require a refund, we will retain your deposit.
  • up to 30 days before departure, we will hold 100% of your payment as a credit for future travel, or provide a 50% refund.
  • between 15 and 29 days before departure, we will hold 75% of your payment as a credit for future travel, with no option for refund.
  • under 14 days, we will retain the full amount of your booking as a cancellation fee.

*In limited circumstances credits may be less unrecoverable costs that may apply to selected trips.

If we cancel your booking for reasons outside of our control

  • You will receive 100% credit towards future travel with us,
  • Or, you can choose a refund, less unrecoverable costs.

Important terms & conditions that apply to the above

  • The above conditions apply to the Out Adventures land portion of your trip only. Airlines and other travel providers may charge additional fees.
  • Different cancellation conditions apply to our Galapagos Gay Cruise and Tailor-Made trips – please contact us for more details.
  • Unrecoverable Costs
    • The coronavirus pandemic is a “force majeure event”, which is an event that occurs outside of the reasonable control of either party to a contract. In circumstances where this force majeure event results in the cancellation of your trip, we will suffer unrecoverable losses. Therefore, if we cancel your trip and you select a refund, we will deduct unrecoverable losses from your refund.
    • If you cancel an Inca Trail trip, $150 USD per person will be deducted from any credit held on file.
  • If we have cancelled your trip, the credit offering is subject to the following conditions:
    • This may not be combined with any other discount or offer, including our Friends with Benefits discount.
    • The credit is not transferable to another person, nor is it redeemable for cash.
    • The credit must be applied to a future departure within 12 months of the date of cancellation of your initial/original booking.
    • Any unused value will be retained on file indefinitely and may not be claimed as a refund.
    • Is applicable on Out Adventures departures only.
    • The credit may not be used for airfare.
