We’ve devoted three full days of our Magical Myanmar tour to the country’s second-largest lake in Myanmar. Here are a few reasons why.
1. Traditional long tail boats.
Along with being easy to admire, we’ll spend an afternoon zipping around the lake on its local mode of transportation.
2. The Floating Gardens
While the name may be deceivingly romantic, these are actual working gardens where farmers grow fruit and vegetables.
3. Lotus silk workshops
Weaving with this unusual fibre has a long history in Buddhist Southeast Asia. With visits to local workshops, we’ll see the ancient craft in action.
4. Leg-rowing fishermen
Watching these guys navigate the water with their feet is a feat (no pun intended) both impressive and mesmerizing.
5. The Stilted Village
We’ll explore the shops and homes of a water-bound community by local Indein boats, which makes for a truly enchanting day.
6. The Feast In The Forest
For lunch one day, we’ll enjoy a luxurious picnic in nearby woods prepared by some of the area’s best chefs.
7. Our spa resort.
Imagine the most luxurious rustic lodgings your mere mortal mind can muster, then do it again with some Eastern flare. That’s where we’re staying.
